United Arab Emirates; February 2015 — Thomson Broadcast will showcase its new solar autonomous pilot systems in Dubai during CABSAT Exhibition. The company also announced to have been awarded a major contract for the Uganda terrestrial digital television deployment by the Uganda Communication Commission (UCC).
New for Cabsat 2015 exhibition, Thomson Broadcast is exhibiting its new solar autonomous pilot systems. This energy renewable functional pilot is the first Thomson low-power off grid solution integrating transmission capacity. For each equipment integrated in the station, heat dissipation has been optimized and carbon footprint minimized. Featuring an off grid system, logistics for the replenishment is strongly reduced. This saves operators with a drop and forget solution from costly replenishment operations in inaccessible or dangerous sites where the price of a delivered barrel of oil may reach up high amounts.
During Cabsat 2015 exhibition on the French Pavilion booth H3-30 Hall 4, Thomson Broadcast is highlighting its high-power FUTHURA TV Transmitter series deployed in Uganda for operational cost savings and long-term reliability benefiting from latest Thomson innovation. To complete the High power range, the new medium-power range NEXTIVY offers high efficiency combined with complete flexibility for easy installation and versatile performance in any location. Ultra compact, the low-power transmitter DREAMLINE range is available from 20W to 150W RMS. Designed to adapt to any field situation, the low-power range DREAMLINE provides dualcast DVB-T/DVB-T2 coverage extension and benefits from multiple options such as a built-in 1+1 configuration.
Uganda will soon enjoy digital terrestrial television services over a nation-wide DVB-T2 network (Digital Video Broadcasting – Terrestrial). This will be made possible thanks to the DTTV transmission expertise of Thomson Broadcast. Uganda actively works to meet 2015 digital migration deadline fixed by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). As a first step, the UCC aims at covering 80% of the country before the end of 2015. Thomson Broadcast is working closely with UCC and UBC (Uganda Broadcasting Commission) to have the best possible smooth roll out so as to provide 24H hours per day high quality services in all part of the country. 17 stations integrating high power FUTHURA transmitters will be installed with all RF passive components and combiners. Civil works and refurbishment of towers as well as supply of new antennas systems will be achieved. With a clear sustainable system in mind, Thomson’s solutions aimed at offering a high complete energy efficient system adapted for the best global cost of ownership. For an easy installation and use, outdoors shelters will also be provided. To complete this system and ensure a long-term reliability, training of teams and multi viewer monitoring system are key to this system.
“By awarding Thomson Broadcast, UCC is ensuring to benefit from the long experience of a transmitter manufacturer who guarantees the interoperability of all equipment and services. Russian deployment is a new proof of our system capability and the Mongolian DTTV deployment made within one month over the complete nation is a good example of our flexibility” says Pascal Veillat Chairman of Arelis Group and Thomson Broadcast. “For turnkey systems, specific products and services are required. Thanks to a team of experts in the field, we can easily adapt to these requests. We are even going further with the latest development of unique off grid systems presented at Cabsat 2015” added Veillat.

SHB SAS of France is a highly innovative company specialising in natural cosmetic products incorporating the unique anti-ageing benefits of Banana tree active ingredients into a proven formula. The company, based in Martinique and Paris, will showcase its KADALYS skincare brand as part of the French Pavilion organised by UBIFRANCE – the French Agency for International Business Development - from May 27th to 29th, 2014. Kadalys is seeking distributors in Middle East.
SHB SAS is a French-based company specialising in cosmetics that was created by Shirley Billot in 2011. SHB SAS runs operations in Martinique (in the French West Indies) and in Paris (in mainland France). The company specialises in researching and developing new active ingredients inspired by Creole medicine, the traditional medicine of the Caribbean region. SHB SAS has acquired particular expertise in the beauty benefits of active ingredients extracted from the banana tree.
SHB SAS launched Kadalys®, the first cosmetic brand to use anti-ageing Banana Tree benefit. Referred to as Kadali in Sanskrit, the ancient Indian language, the banana tree is, in the Hindu tradition, an embodiment of Lakshmi, the goddess of beauty. This giant tropical plant, known as the Tree of a Thousand Uses, holds a special place in the traditional medicine of tropical and sub-tropical countries. Thus, banana tree has long been known for its healing and soothing properties.
After two years of R&D, Kadalys has created two unique, oily active ingredients, which concentrate the extraordinary antioxidant and anti-ageing properties found in green and yellow bananas that grow in the Caribbean region. Kadalys explains that MUSACTIF® fights against signs of ageing by stimulating the skin’s natural mechanisms with clinically proven results: the cosmetic product elaborated by Kadalys boosts the production of collagen by 136% and increases the person’s epidermal thickness, points out company founder Shirley Billot. MUSACTIF® is 100% natural and has been certified organic by ECOCERT.
All Kadalys’s anti-ageing skincare have clinically proven results: Anti-ageing, Repair, Firmness, Perfection, Radiance, Revitalisation, Moisturization.
Since its launch in September 2012, Kadalys has enjoyed considerable coverage in the French media. The company won two awards in September 2013. Firstly, the quality of Kadalys’ products was recognised as part of the Victoire de la Beauté Awards, which are the most prestigious French prize in the field of cosmetic products. Kadalys submitted three different products — Musaclean peel, Green Banana nutritive oil and Musalis serum — to the 70-strong jury in 2013. After rigorous tests, all three won the prestigious award, which is regarded as a guarantee of a product’s effectiveness across the industry. Kadalys’ cosmetic products were praised for their texture, perfume and efficacy.
Secondly, Kadalys’ products won two prizes at COSMEETING Paris, which focuses on the most promising brands and stages a competition that is highly valued by industry players and specialists. The COSMEETING awards stem from the recognition that is afforded by a demanding jury going by the highest standards — a jury made up of international prescribers on the look-out for new talents and innovative concepts.
Each year, at COSMEETING, brands are singled out that meet stringent criteria in terms of innovation, originality and novelty. In 2013, Kadalys won two Beauty Challenger Awards: the Press Favourite Award and the Emerging Brand Award.

VIE - French International Internship Program
During his visit to the United Arab Emirates, Mr. Edouard Courtial, Minister of State for Overseas French Affairs, chaired the Awards Ceremony for the 4th "Grand Prix V.I.E" (a French International Internship Program). The ceremony was organised in the UAE and was held at the residence of the French Ambassador.
Among the people recognised and awarded by the Minister for their commitment in favour of the VIE Program, were four young French people and two companies (TOTAL MARKETING and BNP PARIBAS). This year, this competition has evolved to allow the companies to participate. The first objective was to increase the companies’ awareness of this program and secondly, to reward the most interesting initiatives.
Thanks to the support of all the French team of the Export, the ceremony was a great success. Nearly half of the 160 young French professionals attended the event, as well as several French businessmen. This event was a great opportunity to network on a professional level where participants could exchange and promote ideas regarding the VIE program.

Held deep in the heart of Languedoc-Roussillon, France’s leading organic winegrowing region, MILLESIME BIO is a business crossroads putting the spotlight on dialogue and exchanges through a host of conferences and self-serve sampling corners. From now on, the trade fair will be exclusively open to certified organic wines (converted wines are no longer accepted). From January 23rd to 25th, over 600 exhibitors hailing from fifteen countries or so and about 3,200 visitors will be expected in Montpellier. This kind of success confirms the growing passion for organic products.
Strictly reserved for exhibitors certified as organic and coming from all countries and wine-producing regions, and exclusively open to professional buyers, MILLESIME BIO aims at gathering producers from the world over to taste and sample quality wines made from organic farming. Created in 1993 by a handful of winegrowers in Languedoc-Roussillon, MILLESIME BIO brings together every year the world’s leading wine buyers: wholesalers, brokers, wine merchants, sommeliers, catering establishments, importers etc.
The trade fair is the scene of a host of events intended to foster discovery, dialogue and conviviality: self-serve sampling corners, the awarding of diplomas for the “Millésime Bio Challenge" contest, as well as conferences about organic wine and world markets. The “Winegrowers Gala”, featuring an organic cocktail enjoyed to music, and the tasting of wines that received awards at the contest, is also a highlight that illustrates the conviviality found throughout the trade fair.
Last year’s MILLESIME BIO had gathered 560 exhibitors and 3,200 professional visitors, 21.5% of which were foreign.
The "Millésime Bio Challenge" contest: a showcase for excellence
A worldwide competition intended to give exposure to the quality of wines made from organic farming, it has been held yearly since 2008 to reward the best organic wines. This year, the jury made of wine professionals will be tasting close to 800 samples. The diplomas will be officially awarded during the January 24th winegrower’s cocktail, where a bar will be especially arranged to help all present taste the winning wines.
Key figures from the French organic wines market:
With over 50,000 hectares under organic production mode in France in 2010 against 39,000 hectares in 2009, organic vine growing rose by 28%. The amount of winegrowing farms was up 30% from 3,024 in 2009 to 3,945 in 2010. 3 French regions are among the front runners: Languedoc-Roussillon (16,462 hectares, up 30% over one year), followed by the Provence-Côte d’Azur Region (11,209 hectares, up 25% over one year) and Aquitaine (7,715 hectares, up 41% over one year). On a global scale, France makes a good showing, coming third after Spain and Italy.
