Niagara Falls, 31 May – 3 June 2010: As part of Photonics North, the main conference in photonics in Canada, the French Trade Commission (Ubifrance) in Canada raised a delegation of six companies interested in developing their activities in Canada. 500 participants were registered and more than 53 organizations exhibited their technologies, products or services, at the conference this year.
The French companies followed a four-day program held in 2 stages:
- 2 days in Quebec City and Ottawa, upstream of the conference, including individuals B2B meetings with potential partners, organized in collaboration with the QPN, and visits of the INO and COPL.
- 2 days at Photonics North where additionnal pre-targeted meetings, access to technical sessions as well as networking through the Ubifrance booth, made contacts easier, allowing the French delegation to enhance their visibility all along the expo.
The morning of the second day was devoted to a “U.K.-France-Canada Partnering Workshop”, organized in collaboration with the U.K. counterparts, the Canadian Photonics Consortium and UbiFrance Canada.
Building on this success in 2010, the French Trade Commission is considering organizing a mission next year by attending the Photonic week scheduled in Ottawa in May 2011. This event will include: the 21st international conference on optical fiber sensors (OFS21) Photonics North 2011 and the annual conference of CIPI.
