FRENCH COMPANIES AND CLUSTERS AT BIOCONTACT SYMPOSIUM
OCTOBER 6-7, 2010, IN QUEBEC

A delegation of French clusters and biotech companies will be coming to BioContact Symposium from on Oct. 6 and 7, 2010, at Château Frontenac, in Quebec City, Quebec, to share their expertise with their Canadian counterparts. France, a top player in the European biotech industry with a network of about 400 companies and labs, is at the cutting-edge of biotechnologies and is actively looking for new business developments and partnerships. The delegation is organized by Ubifrance, the French agency for international business development and the DGCIS (General Directorate for Competitiveness, Industry and Services from the French Ministry of Economy, Industry and Employment). The participants will be attending the symposium in order to promote the French industry and to facilitate and encourage collaboration and exchanges between the two countries.
During the symposium, the French delegation will have the opportunity to visit some sites and laboratories, meet with potential BtoB partners and take part in the presentations about all kinds of biotech themes, from diagnostics to therapeutics, including services and other disciplines (for more information about the presentations and panels, visit www.biocontact.qc.ca/ ). On the occasion of Aéro-Montréal Innovation Forum, the French Trade Commission (Ubifrance) in Canada organised a market discovery trade mission with 14 French companies looking to refine their development strategies in this important sector of the Canadian economy. Other than their attendance of the forum’s workshops and technical sessions, the participants also benefited from a program of B2B meetings and a technical day organised by the Quebec Aerospace Association (AQA). In addition, they were hosted for a day by the Consortium for Research and Innovation in Aerospace in Quebec (CRIAQ).

With 700 exhibitors and 20 000 visitors, the Gas & Oil Exposition (GO Expo) is one of the 5 biggest events in the calendar of the North American energy sector. The 2009 edition of the show saw the participation of 12 French companies under the umbrella of the French Trade Commission (Ubifrance) in Canada. Other than the presence at the 55 m2 pavilion, participants also benefited from a program of B2B meetings organised by the French Trade Commission and attended a day-long series of seminars presented by several important sector players such as Total and Technip.

The French Trade Commission in Canada (Ubifrance) participated for the 3rd time to Americana, the biennial environmental technologies Trade Show, with a French presence significantly more important than the previous editions: 22 companies and organisations were represented on the French pavilion, all of them participating in a program of 140 B2B meetings (90 industrial + 50 commercial meetings). Several companies travelled to Toronto after the show to participate in another B2B program, also organised by Ubifrance and the French Trade Commissions in Canada.
