Please find bellow the article that was published in Licensing World Magazine in August 2010 about the Burgundy Wines seminaires wich took place on the 7th of September 2010. The BIVB (Burgundy Wine Board) invites Irish wine professionals to attend training seminars guiding them through the Burgundy wines appellations. The seminars are led by Desmond King, an official Burgundy wines trainer. These seminars bring together theoretical knowledge and practical application, offering guided  tastings of 8 wines to further learn about the intricacies of Burgundy wines. 1. The first training seminar (9am-11am) is a beginner level tailored to explore the large range of Burgundy appellations: Regional, Village, Premiers Crus and Grands Crus, both whites and reds. A fine selection of 8 wines will be presented and tasted, an opportunity for participants to experience the diversity and richness of Burgundy wines and learn more about their 2000 years of history. 2. The second training seminar (2pm-4pm) presents a more advanced perspective on Burgundy wines, with a tasting providing a fine selection of 8 of the 44 Village appellations of Burgundy. These ‘lesser-known appellations’ offer an excellent price/ quality ratio, responding perfectly to the evolving needs of Irish consumers in today’s economic environment.

Please find bellow the article that appeared in the French Newpaper "Le Petit Journal" on the 14th of July.

On the 7th September 2010, the Burgundy Wine Board (BIVB) in association with the French Trade Commission Ubifrance was pleased to introduce to the Irish wine trade two training seminars related to the Burgundy region and its marvelous wines. The two captivating sessions took place in the function room of Fallon & Byrne and were animated by Desmond King, accredited speaker of the BIVB, and Nelly Blau-Picard from the BIVB.  The first morning seminar focused on general Burgundy knowledge, from regional appellations to the most prestigious “Grand Cru”. Desmond underlined the importance of the soils in Burgundy and explained the complex system of appellations and climats. The presentation was interactive and included a quiz to which the attendees could answer with an individual remote. The wines tasted were delicious and obviously, the Grand Crus were extremely popular.  Nevertheless, the Pouilly-Fuissé from Domaine Thibert and the Ladoix from Domaine Parent got their part of admiration too.  The wines tasted were as follows: 1. BOURGOGNE, 2008, Domaine C&C MARÉCHAL (White) 2. BOURGOGNE HAUTES-CÔTES DE NUITS, 2007, Domaine Manuel OLIVIER (Red) 3. POUILLY-FUISSÉ, Les Cras, 2007, Domaine THIBERT Père et Fils (White) 4. MERCUREY, 2008, Domaine SARRAZIN (Red) 5. SAINT-AUBIN 1er Cru, Le Charmois, 2006, Domaine Michel PICARD (White) 6. LADOIX 1er Cru, La Corvée, 2007, Domaine PARENT (Red) 7. CHABLIS Grand Cru, Bougros, Côte de Bouguerots, 2007, Domaine William FEVRE (White) 8. MAZIS CHAMBERTIN, 2007, Domaine Harmand GEOFFROY (Red) The afternoon session was dedicated to lesser-known appellations such as Bouzeron, Irancy or Fixin. This seminar focused on soils and grapes specificities and was illustrated by Nelly’s pertinent insights. The wines served were diverse and exciting: from the crispy Montagny, the rich and expressive Fixin to the elegant and delicate Chambolle-Musigny. The participants could discover and try the lesser known grape variety “César” allowed in the production of Irancy. The wines tasted were as follows: 1. BOUZERON, 2008, Domaine CHANZY (White) 2. MONTAGNY, Les Guignottes, 2008, Domaine ANDREOTTI (White) 3. SAINT-VÉRAN, Les Cras, 2007, Domaine des DEUX ROCHES (White) 4. CHABLIS 1er CRU, Vaulorent, 2007,  Jean-Marc BROCARD (White) 5. IRANCY, L’Âme du Domaine, 2007, Domaine VERRET et Fils (Red) 6. SAVIGNY-LÈS-BEAUNE 1er CRU, Les Lavières, 2008, Domaine C&C MARÉCHAL (Red) 7. FIXIN, Petits Crais, 2007, Domaine HUGUENOT Père et Fils (Red) 8. CHAMBOLLE-MUSIGNY 1er CRU, Les Combottes, 2007, Domaine Alain JEANNIARD (Red) The event was a great success and allowed the Irish wine trade to refresh its knowledge on Burgundy. Furthermore, it gave the opportunity to learn more characteristics of thi
