LAITERIE DE MONTAIGU and LISA sponsor the symposium
on Spray Dried Dairy Products
LAITERIE DE MONTAIGU, a leading French manufacturer of infant formulas together with LISA, an expert in manufacturing processes for powdered milk formulas for infants, are sponsoring the 5 th edition of the International Symposium on Spray Dried Dairy Products (SDDP) being organized by IDF (International Dairy Federation) and INRA (the French National Institute for Agricultural Research) from 19th to 21st June 2012 in Saint-Malo, France. The main aim of the symposium is to update researchers and manufacturers on scientific advances in the field of Spray Dried Dairy Products.
LAITERIE DE MONTAIGU and LISA present their know-how during the international symposium on SDDP
The SDDP symposium gathers research professionals and industry leaders from around the world to present the most advanced spray drying techniques able to preserve the integrity of dairy components. It is an opportunity for LAITERIE DE MONTAIGU and its spin-off LISA, diamond sponsors of the event, to present their expert knowledge in the production of infant milk powder.
With steady investments in R&D, the two companies are equipped with undisputed expertise in optimizing manufacturing processes. By being committed to the understanding of raw material behavior during each industrial stage, these processes control impacts and guarantee expected functional and metabolic product properties.
They also assess new technologies and innovative manufacturing configurations, so that the native properties and nutritional components of infant milk can be maintained.
Their expertise includes a patented spray drying mathematical model, giving them outstanding competitive advantage. In this way, the cost and time of their industrial pilot assays are reduced. They also comply with the most stringent product quality standards in the world.
LAITERIE DE MONTAIGU and LISA thus strive to help manufacturers and distributors meet the quality standards of health and sanitary authorities throughout the world, by bringing them technical and industrial expertise.
Infant milk powder quality : a public health issue
As a matter of fact, infant milk quality is an issue for governments and public health authorities. It is the result of various industrial factors: quality of the raw materials, mechanical and thermal treatments, way of blending, interaction between components, etc.
A milk protein that has been subjected to shocks during the industrial process may suffer structural modifications. This may distort its biological value and lead to outbreak of new components potentially harmful to children.
Metabolic safety will become a point of vigilance for the world sanitary authorities, hitherto focused on microbiological and quantitative aspects.
The boom in infant formula demand
The infant formula market is estimated to be 12 billion €* and is indifferent to economic cycles: the worldwide demand is increasing by 11% per annum, particularly in the emergent markets, targeted by LAITERIE DE MONTAIGU, Asia and Latin America. In 2011, export accounted for 45% of the turnover for LAITERIE DE MONTAIGU.
*According to LISA, 2012

Châteauneuf-du-Pape brings outstanding wines to India
New Delhi, December 2011: Federation of Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine producers brings to India for the first time outstanding Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines. These finest varieties of wines will be showcased at the French Pavilion organized by Sopexa at the Fine Food India trade fair, India’s latest trade event for retail, foodservice, bakery and hospitality industries, being organized from 5th to 7th December 2011 in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Their objective is to forge business opportunities and meet distributors and importers in the Indian market.
As part of this French Pavilion , Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines from 6 estates - Domaine de Nalys, Château La Nerthe, Domaine Durieu, Domaine du Père Caboche, Domaine La Mereuille, Domaine de la Charbonnière, will be presented at the trade show. Importers, distributors and other wine professionals will be able to taste Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines during the “Master Class” being organized on 6th December at Pragati Maidan, Delhi. This Master Class will be conducted by Magandeep Singh India’s first French-qualified Sommelier and a famous wine professional together with Michel Blanc, Managing director of the Federation of Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine producers.
Established in 1933, Châteauneuf-du-Pape was the first ever “Appellation Contrôlée” established in France. The area of production of Châteauneuf-du-Pape is located between Orange and Avignon, in the South of France. There are around 3,200 hectares of vineyards that spread over five villages. These vineyards receive excellent exposure to the sun and, in addition, the mistral winds and the local soil enable this region to produce good quality wines. More wine is produced in Châteauneuf-du-Pape than the whole of northern Rhône put together.
In addition to the meticulous cultivation techniques adopted by the winegrowers of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region, their ongoing research into exotic varieties of grapes and strict sorting of these grapes guarantee the consistent high-quality of the wines. There are 13 grape varieties that can be blended: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault, Vaccarèse, Counoise, Muscardin, Picpoul, Terret, Clairette, Bourboulenc, Roussanne and Picardan. However, it’s usually the Grenache that gives the Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines their true character and taste.
White wines represent only 6% of the total production, whereas red wines represent 94%. The bottle, with the easy to identify label of the “coat of arms”, was launched in 1937 and remains a symbol of success for all wine-owners of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation.
These 6 Châteauneuf-du-Pape winegrowers to participate at the Fine Food India 2011 have been offering a wide range of quality wines for many years, always striving to meet high standards while combining modernity, quality and tradition. Today, Châteauneuf-du-Pape ranks among the great winegrowing regions, thanks to the originality and style of its wines.

The French Trade Commission , in collaboration with AXEMA, the French Association for the Agricultural Equipment Industry, recently brought 9 french companies from the wine industry to India.
The main aim of their visit was to present their expertise to the Indian wine industry through their participation in INTERVITIS INDIA Seminar organized in Pune on the 10th of November,2011. Though the 3rd Edition of the event, this was the first time that Ubifrance and the French Trade Commission took part in this event.
The seminar, attended by about 50 Indian wine producers ,was inaugurated by Mr. Jagdish Holkar, the President of the All India Wine Producer’s Association(AIWPA). AIWPA & Ubifrance India presented and discussed topics related to viti-viniculture followed by presentations by each of the participating companies from France. Here it is to be noted that France was the only country to be represented. Each company had a stand for individual B2B meeting for further exchange of information.
During their visit , the delegation also got an opportunity to visit vineyards in the regions of Nasik in Maharashtra and Bangalore in Karnataka. It is to be noted that 80% of the Indian wine production is done in Maharashtra and the remaining 20% in Karnataka. These visits, much appreciate by the visiting delegates, gave them opportunity to meet the major actors of the Indian wine sector.
To continue these cordial relations, a number of the visiting delegates expressed their desire to invite Indian wine producers to France in the future.

Held deep in the heart of Languedoc-Roussillon, France’s leading organic winegrowing region, MILLESIME BIO is a wine fair putting the spotlight on dialogue and exchanges through a host of conferences and self-service sampling corners. The trade fair will be exclusively showcasing certified organic wines (converted wines are no longer accepted). From January 23rd to 25th, over 600 exhibitors hailing from around fifteen countries and about 3,200 visitors are expected in Montpellier. This kind of success confirms the growing passion for organic products.
Strictly reserved for exhibitors certified as organic farmers, coming from any country and wine-producing region, and open to professional buyers exclusively, MILLESIME BIO aims at gathering producers from the world over to taste and sample quality wines made from organic farming. The brainchild of a handful of winegrowers in Languedoc-Roussillon in 1993, MILLESIME BIO brings together every year the world’s leading wine buyers: wholesalers, brokers, wine merchants, sommeliers, catering establishments, importers etc.
The trade fair is the scene of a host of events intended to foster discovery, dialogue and conviviality: self-service sampling corners, the awarding of diplomas for the “Millésime Bio Challenge" contest, as well as conferences about organic wine and world markets. The “Winegrowers Gala” to taste wines that received awards, is one of the highlights that illustrates the conviviality found throughout the trade fair.
Last year’s MILLESIME BIO had gathered 560 exhibitors and 3,200 professional visitors, 21.5% of whom were foreign.
The "Millésime Bio Challenge" contest: a showcase for excellence
A worldwide competition intended to give exposure to the quality of wines made from organic farming, it has been held yearly since 2008 to reward the best organic wines. This year, the jury of wine professionals will be tasting close to 800 samples. The diplomas will be officially awarded during the January 24th winegrower’s cocktail, where a bar will be especially arranged to help all present to taste the winning wines.
Key figures from the French organic wines market.
With over 50,000 hectares under organic production in France in 2010 against 39,000 hectares in 2009, organic vine growing rose by 28%. The amount of winegrowing farms was up 30% from 3,024 in 2009 to 3,945 in 2010. 3 French regions are among the front runners: Languedoc-Roussillon (16,462 hectares, up 30% over one year), followed by the Provence-Côte d’Azur Region (11,209 hectares, up 25% over one year) and Aquitaine (7,715 hectares, up 41% over one year). The FAO tender was for a national diagnostic and conception study (120 days mission) of the identification and traceability of cattle. Against several strong contenders, including experienced German ones, the French Institut de l’Elevage/ Institute of Animal Husbandry imposed its methodology and know-how. Considering the sheer volume of livestock in India, more than 280 million heads of cattle, 60 million sheep and 124 million goats, the challenge is a great one. Experts from the Institute of Animal Husbandry, accompanied by experts of ARSOE in Britanny, will start their mission in November 2011.
That such a significant study being given to France, is an excellent opportunity to highlight the French skills and commercial ties on offer. More than the technical support services that the Institute and its partners can offer for development, it is as ambassadors for the entire French offer : genetics, animals, equipment. The first business approach in this great country already being courted by various operators, should strengthen our ability to be more present in the future especially as the effective implementation of the device, based on our recommendations, will likely lead to further consultations in which we hope to be allowed to participate.
